Cleantech Index (CTIUS) adding global companiesIndex expanding to include top clean technology companies worldwide NEW YORK, June 24, 2008 -- The Cleantech Group™, LLC today announced its Cleantech Index™ (AMEX: CTIUS) is to expand significantly to include cleantech stocks from markets worldwide. The expansion will occur at a regular quarterly rebalancing on June 28th, 2008. The changes will also be reflected in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) based upon CTIUS. "Global demand for clean technology products and services continues to expand, and this is reflected in the superior performance of the Cleantech Index," said Rafael Coven, Managing Director of Cleantech Indices for the Cleantech Group, LLC, and Index Advisor. The Cleantech Group’s Cleantech Index is the first, and only, equity index offering investors access to the full suite of clean technology products and services. CTIUS is currently comprised of 46 public companies leading innovation and commercial deployment across a broad range of industry sectors, including energy efficiency and renewables, advanced materials, air & water purification, eco-friendly agriculture/nutrition and others. As of June 15th, 2008, 18% of CTIUS was composed of non-U.S. companies. After the global rebalancing, non-US companies will comprise approximately 50% of the Index. "Being able to now look beyond U.S. borders makes it possible to find quality companies in sectors that have historically been underrepresented in the Index, such as wind power. We now have a much larger pool of companies and sectors available," said Coven. The same careful quantitative and qualitative screening criteria applied to U.S. companies for inclusion in the Index are to be applied in the global expansion. The exact index changes will be announced by the AMEX, Cleantech Group, and managers of ETFs based upon the Cleantech Index later this month. By tracking the market performance of premier cleantech companies, CTIUS is the industry standard index used for a growing range of financial products. It provides investors with an easy, cost-effective and liquid means to invest in the broad cleantech investment category, and do so with less risk than previously possible.
