Cleantech Group expands global team with new directors in Europe and North America

Richard Youngman and Brian Fan add industry knowledge and global reach

  • SAN FRANCISCO and LONDON, June 25, 2008 The Cleantech Group™, LLC pioneer of the cleantech investment category and largest global network of cleantech investors and companies, today announced two new additions to the company's management team, naming Richard Youngman as managing director, Europe, and Brian Fan as senior director of research. Youngman will focus on expanding Cleantech Group's European bench strength and services, while Fan will drive strategic development of the company's research offerings.
  • "The first two quarters of 2008 demonstrate that interest and investment in the cleantech sector continues to increase, despite global economic instability," said Nicholas Parker, cofounder and chairman, Cleantech Group. "Europe has strong leadership in cleantech, and Richard will work throughout Europe to even more fully engage the European cleantech community. Brian's financial research and strategy consulting experience will help strengthen our leadership in the growing market for comprehensive cleantech industry insight." 

Youngman has extensive experience in information services, specifically in technology and investment research, and comprehensive knowledge of the European cleantech landscape. He was most recently vice president of research and operations at Library House, a leading consulting firm focused on venture capital developments and technology companies based in Cambridge. He holds multiple degrees from international schools, including an MA from Cambridge University and an MBA from Theseus International Management Institute in Sophia Antipolis, France. 

  • Fan brings 15 years of experience in market research, investment analysis, technology product development, brand marketing and management consulting with high profile companies including Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, and the Walt Disney Co. As Equity Research Analyst for the hedge fund The Cypress Funds, LLC, Fan was responsible for original investment ideas and analysis of the technology, media, and retail sectors. Fan also developed business and product strategies for clients including Nokia, Barclays Global Investors and Adobe as Senior Partner of Olliance Group, a leading Silicon Valley management consulting firm. He holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
