Cleantech venture network honors industry leaders

Pioneer Awards and Most Promising Presenter Given at Cleantech Venture Forum X in London

• BRIGHTON, MI, June 28, 2006 – Cleantech Venture Network LLC today announced the
• winners of the Most Promising Presenter and Pioneer Award, which were presented at the
• Cleantech Venture Forum X in London, England.

• The corecipients of the Pioneer Award were Claude Fussler, advisor to the United Nations
• Global Compact, and Reto Ringger, CEO of SAM Group. The Pioneer Award recognizes
• individuals who have contributed to the growth of cleantech venturing over a long period of time.

• The recipient of the Most Promising Presenter was Adam de Sola Pool, partner and chief
• investment officer for Environmental Investment Partners (EIP). The Most Promising Presenter
• honor is given to the company that represents the greatest venture investment opportunity at each
• Cleantech Venture Forum, which is held three times per year.

• Claude Fussler is currently an advisor to the UN Global Compact, a chair on the Sustainability
• Panel of the EDF Group and the board director of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable
• Construction in Zurich. He is an expert in business innovation and issue management with a focus
• on sustainable development and corporate social responsibility.
• Reto Ringger is founder and CEO of the SAM Group, Sustainable Asset Management, an
• internationally recognized, independent asset management group exclusively specializing in the
• provision of sustainability investment products and services for institutional and private investors.
• SAM has fully integrated sustainability criteria in the investment process and valuation of
• equities, including private equity.

• Adam de Sola Pool is a partner and chief investment officer for EIP, and has been since 1998. He
• previously worked for the Industrial Bank of Japan, The European Bank for Reconstruction and
• Development and was an investment banker for Salomon Brothers. He is a graduate of the
• University of Chicago and Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of
• Management.
