Jorgen Mads Clausen and SFC Smart Fuel Cell receive Cleantech Awards in Copenhagen

Industry pioneer and high growth enterprise both recognized at Cleantech Forum XXII Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN, April 29, 2009 – The Cleantech Group, LLC, founders of the cleantech investment category, today named the winners of its Cleantech Awards in the categories of Cleantech Pioneer and Emerging Enterprise of the Year in front of an audience of more than 400 industry influencers at Cleantech Forum® XXII in Copenhagen.

Jorgen Mads Clausen, chairman of the Danfoss Group, one of Denmark’s largest industrial companies and employer of 23,000 people worldwide, was awarded the Cleantech Pioneer Award. Clausen is responsible for spearheading Danfoss’s strategy to minimize the consumption of raw materials and energy in the manufacturing process, and has been instrumental in the company’s policy to invest in Cleantech start-up companies. In addition to his role at Danfoss, Clausen is a councillor on the Copenhagen Climate Council and outspoken commentator on CO2 emissions and other environmental issues

SFC Smart Fuel Cell, a leading supplier of fuel cell and off-grid power applications, received the Cleantech Emerging Enterprise of the Year Award. The German company, which is headed by CEO Dr. Peter Podesser, provides fuel cells to the leisure, industrial and military sectors and has increased in revenues by over 4,600% in the last five years. The Cleantech Awards are the longest-running, most prestigious honors in the clean technology sector.
