London-based Nviro Cleantech (AIM: NVR) announced today that would work with Hong Kong's CLP Holdings to develop a coal and biomass treatment technology in India.
Nviro's Vertus Technology unit and the Indian subsidiary of CLP plan to conduct trials to test and assess the feasibility of developing a pilot production plant in India capable of pre-treating a range of fuels for cleaner power generation.
"Following our recently announced JV in China, Nviro now has a presence in two of the world’s largest coal-fired power generating countries where its technologies can not only help reduce emissions from traditional fossil fuels, but also emerging biomass energy projects," said Chris Every, CEO of Nviro.
If the trials are successful, Vertus will develop a Vertus RTP, or reductive thermal process, plant for use by CLP India.
Rajiv Mishra, managing director of CLP India, said, "CLP continues to seek to apply viable new clean technologies to meet the demand for power generation. We are confident that in Vertus RTP Technology we have identified an exciting opportunity to meet this objective in a market where demand for electricity is growing strongly.”
Nviro said the trials would start immediately, with a series of fuels to be analyzed at the Vertus laboratory in Hungary.
