Pasadena, Calif.-based Tetra Tech (Nasdaq: TTEK) announced that it has been awarded two engineering, procurement, and construction projects and one balance of plant construction project for wind farms, with the combined value of the three contracts totaling $69 million.
The wind farms will generate 218.2 megawatts of renewable energy, according to Tetra Tech. The company said that would be enough energy to power more than 55,000 homes.
For Oklahoma Gas & Electric, Tetra Tech will provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for the OU Spirit Wind Farm. The farm will consist of 44 Siemens 2.3 MW turbines near Woodward, Okla.
Tetra Tech will also provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for the Kodiak Electric Association's Pillar Mountain Wind Project on Kodiak Island, Alaska. The project includes the installation of three General Electric (NYSE: GE) turbines capable of generating 4.5 MW of power.
Tetra Tech said work on the project started in late May and is expected to be complete by July 2009.
On the other side of the country, Tetra Tech was awarded a project to provide balance of plant services for the High Sheldon Wind Farm in Wyoming County, N.Y. Owned by Chicago's Invenergy, the wind farm is expected to have a maximum electrical generating capacity of 112.5 MW.
Tetra Tech said it's constructing roads and foundations to support the installation of 75 wind turbines on predominantly active agricultural lands for the High Sheldon project.
