Infinite Power to build batteries in Colorado

December 11, 2006 - by Dana Childs, Cleantech Group

Infinite Power Solutions (IPS), a developer of thin-film batteries, has leased a new facility in Littleton, Colorado where it plans to build high-volume manufacturing lines for its LiTE*STAR rechargeable thin-film lithium batteries.

The 36,795 square foot building at 11149 Bradford Road will also serve as the companys new corporate headquarters.

IPS recently raised more than $35 million in venture capital funding, including money from the venture arm of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, to finance the build-out of the manufacturing plant and accelerate business development based on the increasing demand for thin-film battery technology.

"We are proud to say our products will be produced here in the U.S. and bring more high-tech jobs to the Denver area," said Raymond Johnson, IPS president and CEO.

IPS currently has 18 full-time employees and expects to increase staff as it ramps to volume production.

IPS selected the Littleton location because it was in close to its R&D facility in Golden, which it plans to maintain and use for technology and product development.

IPS micro-batteries offer an ultra-thin form factor and are intended for applications including military, aerospace, smart cards, active RFID, implantable medical devices, embedded micro-controllers and wireless sensors.
