FAQ

Our news division is a trade pub, not a consumer pub - We're a leading daily trade publication focused on the cleantech sectors.

While there are other trade pubs focused on sub-sectors, we're the only ones covering daily cleantech-related developments worldwide across:

  • Agriculture
  • Renewable energy
  • Manufacturing
  • Transportation
  • Water
  • And other related sectors as detailed here

We're not a consumer publication like Treehugger, Grist or Lime, aimed at helping consumers become greener.

We exist to connect vendors with investors and other industry influencers, and the value chain important to their business. We're aggregating those in the business of cleantech.

We're a business, with an objective to make money - Our business is building a community of cleantech-focused industry influencers, and then monetizing that community with marketing and other products. We are intended to be a profitable LOB of the Cleantech Group.

We also exist to draw attention to and sell the other products in the Cleantech Group's lines of business:

  • Network
  • Events
  • Indices
  • Advisory, etc.

Our efforts at education, entertainment and quality editorial are all focused at building traffic - specifically, the right traffic - which translates into impressions, which lead to sales.

Our readers are high-end investors and other influencers - Study our demographics and traffic page. It's critical to know who our readers are, regardless of whether you're in editorial or sales.

We're not at this time a corporate social responsibilty pub, though that may change - More publications and blogs are focused on which large enterprises and other organizations are adopting what clean technologies and why.

For instance:

  • GreenBiz.com and GreenComputing.com - pubs of Joel Makower's Greener World Media
  • Environmental Leader
  • SustainableBusiness.com

We are intentionally not covering corporate social responsibility developments, but that may change if we strategically decide to expand our enterprise/end-user readership.

Competition - Our most direct competition is Greentech Media. Others will follow. In the meantime, the following compete for attention and sponsorship dollars in various sub-sectors:

  • Renewable Energy Access - renewable energy only
  • Dow Jones Clean Technology Investor newsletter - daily newsletter rounding up news across cleantech. Deal-focused. $980/yr.
  • Alternative Energy Retailer - renewable energy only
  • Earthtoys - energy focus
  • Green Car Congress
  • Environmental Business Journal
  • Solarbuzz
  • Fuel Cell Today
  • Fuel Cell Works
  • EnergyCentral/EnergyBiz
  • Biofuels Journal
  • North American Windpower

Various (primarily) print publications, including:

  • Refocus
  • Cleantech Magazine (startup)
  • Sustainable Industries Journal
  • Inside Green Business
  • Wind Power Monthly
