The matter is not so simple as looks like.Our country Pakistan is self sufficient in food.Rice,Wheat,Vegetable,Mutton,Beef,all are available,in abundant.Why prices of food grain escalated so much is due to smuggling of food grain to neighbouring countries,and secondly due to increase in transport fares,obviously due to oil prices increases in international market.
I am sure a better governance,strict control,and banning exports of wheat, rice, etc could help solve the problem of shortages and higher prices.
As far as USA is concerned,its still the largest donor of food to many third world countries.And people of third world countries will remain thankful to the USA for their generous assistances.
