The Challenge
To treat wastewater from an industrial facility to the point of being reusable for high value use cases (e.g. beyond flushing of toilets) cost effectively.
HAECO’s facility in Jinjiang is exploring wastewater treatment solutions that can be installed in between the existing treatment systems and the sewage plant. HAECO has a water intensity target of 25% reduction by 2030 compared to 2018 baseline and this solution will assist in reducing the organization’s water usage.
We are looking for innovation in areas such as, but not limited to, greywater recycling, zero-liquid discharge, aerobic/anaerobic digestion, biofilms and algal solutions, electrochemical treatment, UV treatment, and membrane filtration.
The Opportunity
Swire Pacific’s Sustainable Development Fund, an annual HK$100 million fund, seeks primarily to fund proof of concept pilots of innovative technologies and approaches that, when scaled up more widely within the group’s various operations, have the potential to significantly positively impact environmental performance of operating companies.
The innovator chosen for a pilot project aimed at solving the challenge presented here, will be awarded full funding for that pilot after final approval of the suggested pilot by the SD Fund committee. If results are successful, this partner may have the opportunity to scale their solution across the operating company’s operations and, where applicable, across Swire’s portfolio of companies in Property, Aviation, Beverages, Marine Services and Trading & Industrial.
