Direct Air Capture: Climate Solution or Climate Distraction
Direct Air Capture (DAC) has gained increased attention as a potential climate solution. This technology can remove carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere, enabling permanent carbon storage or production of sustainable fuels and chemicals. However, DAC faces significant technical and economic challenges, such as high energy consumption and substantial capital costs. This panel discussion will explore the feasibility of DAC scale-up with particular attention to:
- Technical Hurdles: Energy use, engineering challenges and limitations
_ - Economic Feasibility: The cost-effectiveness of technology for carbon removal or use
_ - Policy and Industry Collaboration: The role of government and business in scaling DAC
Agenda:
3:30-4:30 pm: Welcome and networking (Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails)
4:30-5:30 pm: Panel discussion, with audience Q&A
5:30 pm: Open discussion and networking
Location: Silicon Valley Bank, 17th floor of LinkedIn building: 222 2nd Street, San Francisco
