Cleantech Group and TiLT Capital will co-host this special invite-only Executive Summit on scaling European cleantech champions. There is a robust supply of European innovation that could help get us to net zero. However, the transition from startup to true industrial player is riddled with obstacles and represents another valley of death. Key questions for discussion will include:

    • What kind of financing tools and partnership models need to be made available for companies executing on the scaleup journey?
    • How should such companies evolve, bringing on the right capabilities and talent to support them at that inflection point?

Participation is invite-only, but you can request a spot, and we will let you know before the event if you can join us, please email forums@cleantech.com.

Welcome and Stories of Scaling: From Venturing to New-Look Industries

A critical “must have” outcome of the coming 20 years is for us to take clean technologies to commercial and global scale.

We will kick off the plenary program by hearing real life stories of scaling, hearing from those in the thick of that challenge – via some headline takeaways from the earlier Scaling European Champions executive summit, via case studies and learnings from recent deal-making from the European Investment Bank, and through catching up with a CEO from Cleantech Forums past.

In October, Avantium, a pioneer in renewable and circular polymer materials, opened its flagship plant, the world’s first commercial plant to produce FDCA (furandicarboxylic acid), the main building block for the 100% plant-based and circular polymer PEF (polyethylene furanoate). Avantium has worked for more than 18 years on the development of PEF, usable in bottles, packaging, clothing, furniture, and industrial applications. It was the first European company to be on the Global Cleantech 100 seven times. This is a story of real perseverance to reach this exciting milestone.
