Despite macroeconomic headwinds, in 2023 cleantech innovation took some major leaps forward. Cleantech innovators outperformed their peers in other technology areas with regard to venture and growth financing, and ambitious 2024 manufacturing plans were announced by key deep tech innovators.
2024 will be a year in which at-market innovations need to prove out economics to solidify their place in the rest of the 2020s, and pre-commercial technologies need to make technical gains to position for the 2030s.
