Agriculture & Food 

Wildtype, developer of lab grown meat using cellular technologies, raised $100 million in Series B funding from L Catterton, Cargill, Bezos Expeditions, Temasek Holdings, Leonardo DiCaprio and FootPrint Coalition. The company uses living cells from Pacific salmon to grow silver salmon using cell cultivators and optimized temperature, pH and nutrients. Wildtype is in the process of being approved to sell in the United States, and will use the funds to scale its operations. 

Energy & Power 

Palmetto, developer of software and hardware that provides homeowners with utility disaggregation information and control over their home energy costs, raised $375 million in growth equity from Social Capital, ArcTern Ventures, Gaingels MyCo, Lerer Hippeau Ventures and MacKinnon, Bennett & Co. The company uses third-party services marketplace and a subscription-based business model. Funding is to help accelerate adoption of residential solar energy across the United States.  

Materials & Chemicals 

9T Labs, developer of continuous fiber composite 3D printing solutions, raised $17 million in Series A funding from Stratasys, Solvay Ventures, Verve Ventures, Ace & Company, Zürcher Kantonalbank and Wingman Ventures. The company offers 3d printing solutions as well as additive manufacturing with metal molding, with applications in aerospace and industrial end-use applications. Funding will go towards commercializing platform for the production of thermoplastic composite parts. 

Resources & Environment 

Cosuno, developer of a collaborative platform to streamline the construction process, raised $30 million in Series B funding from Avenir Growth, Spark Capital and Cherry Ventures. Cosuno’s platform automates construction procurement process, offering price comparison, team and certificate management. The funding will aid in further expansion into Europe and drive further product development. The company is now valued at $150 million.  

Transportation & Logistics 

Hozon Automobile, developer of an electric smart cars, raised $316 million in growth equity from CRRC and Shenzhen Capital Group. The company integrates hardware products and software services to develop intelligent, connected electric vehicles. With the Series D round, the company is valued at $3.9 billion. Hozon is also considering a potential listing in Hong Kong.
