Alex Zapantis

Alex joined the Global CCS Institute in 2016 and is accountable for managing the Institute’s consultancy services. He has over 12 years continuous experience working on issues related to climate change and CCS.

The first 12 years of Alex’s career were in Government and the university sector focussed on radiation management and safety, nuclear policy and environmental regulation and policy. His expertise is focussed on energy and climate change policy and carbon capture and storage, strategy development and risk analysis, industry and government engagement, public policy and regulation, industry and commercial analysis, external relations and media and communications.

Alex has a Degree in Applied Science with a major in Physics, a Graduate Diploma in Health & Medical Physics and an MBA.

Alexander Hanrath

Alexander leads Lestari’s financial strategy, financial platform designs and client deal structuring. He brings over 15 years experience in Environmental Finance, Venture Capital and Startup Management. After starting his career with J.P. Morgan Investment Banking, he joined  Climate Change Capital advising on Asian renewable energy projects and later as VP in the Climate Change Capital Private Equity team. He has also served as CFO of several VC-backed clean-technology businesses. Alexander has lived and worked in Asia, Europe, North and South America and holds an MSc in Financial Economics and an MSc in Environmental Technology and Policy from Imperial College London.

Aloysius is a Client Partner at Circulor, a technology business working with major MNCs to enable responsible sourcing and sustainability in industrial supply chains through traceability. Aloysius has over 10 years of international experience in business development and consulting in the emerging technology and professional services sector. Aloysius has an MBA from University of Liverpool and Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University.

Andre Stolz

Mr. Andre Stolz has 16 years experience in Portfolio Innovation, Product Supply and Engineering. He’s an expert in innovation leadership, supply chain, manufacturing processes and product program leadership, and brings an extensive understanding of FMCG businesses from Braun/Oral-B and Procter & Gamble. He also brings significant experience in managing multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural diverse teams, specifically in Asia. He has been embedded in the Singapore Innovation ecosystem since 2008, and worked in Asia since 2005.

Andrew Wong

Andrew was born and raised in Montréal, Canada and brings strong international experience to the table. He started his career in Montréal at Deloitte focusing on private enterprises in the technology, manufacturing and finance industries. While in Montréal, Andrew also spent time helping a startup with financial and strategic matters. Prior to joining TRIREC in 2019, Andrew spent five years in Taiwan, the majority of which was with CLSA in equity research covering small and mid-cap companies in the autoparts, automation and technology industries.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Graduate Diploma from McGill University. He is also a Chartered Professional Accountant (Order of Chartered Professional Accountants of Québec).

Anthony DeOrsey

Anthony manages Cleantech Group’s research team, delivering critical insights on new cleantech innovation and opportunities for engagement to Cleantech Group’s clients in the industrial, investment, and policy communities. He is based in the U.S.

Anthony joined Cleantech Group in late 2019 after over 8 years of work in US-China cross-border expansion consulting and start-up venture funding roles, including 5 years living in Shanghai.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Rhode Island, a Masters in Sustainability from the Harvard Extension School, and he an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

Ashley is a Director in the Strategy & Development Group at GenZero, where she leads the development of GenZero’s investment strategy and drives business development.

Before GenZero, she was Director in Temasek International’s Sustainability Group, focusing on developing sustainability strategy in the areas of carbon markets, climate and nature, sustainability investing and sustainable finance. Prior to the Sustainability Group, Ashley was in the Investment Group and made investments of over US$5b across over 10 transactions in retail, restaurants, and personal care subsectors globally. Ashley started her career at the CIMB Group.

Ashley graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics.

Caroline Guyot

Caroline Guyot is the co-founder and Managing Director of the ENGIE Factory Asia-Pacific, an entity which builds and implements collaboration projects between startups and ENGIE. Before launching the factory, she developed innovation programs for ENGIE in areas relating to the energy transition and smart cities.

Prior to joining ENGIE, she worked at Ashoka, a global network of social entrepreneurs, where she led an accelerator and designed partnerships between social impact entrepreneurs and corporates. At Ashoka, her work spanned multiple geographies and sectors, including energy, education, health and social finance. She also launched the ChangemakerXChange community in Asia to support cross-country collaboration between young social impact entrepreneurs.

Previously, Caroline launched a media project in East Africa, worked for a think tank on African affairs and supported a microfinance consultant in South Africa.

Chia Chien Chang

Mr. Chang Chia Chien is the Lead for Carbon Management and Circular Economy verticals at EcoLabs Centre of Innovation of Energy, which is under Nanyang Technological University Singapore and Enterprise Singapore. He is also currently the Acting Lead of EcoLabs Proposal team which works on company due diligence, proposal writing, market research and other related activities. At EcoLabs, he is mainly involved with proposal and grant call related matters and also actively working on carbon management and sustainability-related projects.

His main areas of interest are on carbon management and sustainability related topics, which include carbon management, carbon accounting and decarbonization. Chia Chien was previously part of the ERI@N EcoCampus team, researching on the life cycle carbon assessment of buildings and NTU benchmarking study for energy and carbon. He graduated with a Bachelor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and also a Masters in Power Engineering, both from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Craig Jamieson

Craig Jamieson originally trained in horticulture and has a master’s degree in International Rural Development with ‘Distinction’. He has worked in business management, consultancy and also scientific research, specializing in sustainable biofuels and bioenergy. His work has taken him across Africa and Asia developing bioenergy solutions that enhance rather than compete with food production. His clients have included the UK Government, UN FAO, World Agroforestry and the International Rice Research Institute.

In 2016 with support from the UK Government, Craig established an industrial pilot plant making clean fuel from waste rice straw. Straw Innovations Ltd was born and he is now preparing to take it to first commercial scale in the Philippines.

David Frans

David Frans is a Senior Partner at Roland Berger. He co-leads Roland Berger’s global Sustainability and Climate Action team and is part of the EMEA Energy management team.

David supports companies and organizations in strategy, change and investment projects. He is passionate about combating climate change and the energy transtition and the many challenges and opportunities this brings. He has worked with companies across industries in developing and realizing sustainability strategies. Furthermore, he is specialized in managing megaprojects, mostly in (energy) infrastructure and capital-intensive industries.

David enjoys guiding extremely complex assignments to a successful conclusion, projects which often involve numerous stakeholders, new technologies and new business models. He then becomes CEOs’ right hand and supports decision-making with independent syntheses he and his team provides.

David studied Business at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. David has been with Roland Berger since 2005.

Dieter Billen

Dieter is a Partner at Roland Berger. He has worked in several countries across Southeast Asia, and originally started at the firm’s Brussels office in Belgium.

He consults on public sector development, economic development, regulations and strategic infrastructure development, including setting up public-private partnerships. His infrastructure experience covers areas such as energy and utilities, transport and telecom.

Dieter Billen has supported multinationals, conglomerates, investment funds and governments on energy transition topics such as renewables and recycling opportunities in South East Asia.

Edna Seah

Elke Kornalijnslijper

Elke is the Head of Energy & Sustainability Services (ESS) for Southeast Asia. Her responsibilities include leading the SEA team, working closely with investors and occupier clients to understand and refine their energy and sustainability challenges and solution needs, promoting ESS service offerings across the region, and driving JLL’s overall Sustainability Ambition.

Elke has over 16 years’ experience in the energy, sustainability and cleantech industry in commercial, product and innovation roles. She has deep knowledge of the demand and supply side of energy, gas and cooling and worked with a broad range of (smart) building technologies such as HVAC optimization, fault detection, energy management, etc. and has a broad network.

Elke uses her knowledge to drive the built environment to Net Zero Carbon and Healthier workplaces – from developing a strategy to taking the actions to realise the targets.

Francis Lempp

Francis Lempp, 24, obtained his MSc in Particle Physics from Royal Holloway University of London in 2018 and decided to pursue ceramic engine design. Since then Francis has played a large role in delivering two government funded Innovate UK research projects on ceramic engine technology and co-founded Carnot.

Geoffrey Yeo

Hadrian Vivek

Hadrian is a Manager for Southeast Asia and is based in the Carbon Trust Singapore Office. He has 8 years of experience in energy policy, NDC planning, low-carbon technology assessments, energy efficiency financing and sustainability. He is presently providing technical guidance on the ASEAN Low Carbon Energy Programme for developing energy efficiency guidelines whilst leading delivery of engagements around clean cooling and energy transition.

Prior to joining Carbon Trust, Hadrian was working with PwC’s Clean Energy advisory team in India primarily executing donor funded projects on energy outlook planning, low-carbon technology assignments, NDC review and energy efficiency financing. Notably, he has worked in the NDC review of Lebanon, Mauritius and Eswatini.

Hadrian holds a Master’s in Sustainable Engineering (Renewable Energy Systems) from University of Strathclyde, UK and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Anna University, India.

Holly Stower

Holly is a Senior Associate leading Resources & Environment research at Cleantech Group and is based in the UK. She is focused on emerging innovation and trends, including those in water, waste, the circular economy, natural resources, and corporate sustainability. ​

Prior to joining Cleantech Group, Holly was a Public Affairs & Communications Executive with the Solar Trade Association and the Association of British Insurers. Before this, Holly worked in advocacy for climate and wildlife charities. ​

Holly earned an Undergraduate and a Master’s in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia.

Jacqueline Young

James Chan

James Chan, Founder and CEO of Ion Mobility, is building Southeast Asia’s top EV mobility company to change the way motorcyclists move and for cleaner air. They design, assemble and support EV motorcycles for Indonesia and Vietnam. Ion Mobility is an atoms-first, bits-later business focused on offering performance-superior, cost-competitive connected/smart EV motorcycles that are “made for” and “made in” the region.

James Diddams

James is a structural engineer who has worked in the aviation and marine industries for more than 18 years.  Having worked extensively across the renewable energy and oil and gas sectors, he brings vast experience in the management of multi-stakeholder teams, all aspects of technical design and in the execution and delivery of complex engineering projects.

Jayantika Soni

Dr Jayantika Soni is the co-founder and CTO of Resync, an early-stage startup building AI-driven energy cloud. She started Resync with Emir Nurov in late 2017. Since then, they along with their team are making power systems with renewables more efficient by advanced control and machine learning algorithms. She holds a PhD in electrical engineering from the National University of Singapore and a bachelors from IIT (BHU), Varanasi.

Jelte Harnmeijer

Jelte spent most of his life in Southern Africa, and worked as an Astrobiologist before taking on off-grid energy. He is a social entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in and around renewable energy policy, research and delivery. Jelte is particularly comfortable in the domains of microgeneration, energy access and shared ownership. He has published widely around issues to do with locally owned community energy and spent many years actively developing renewable energy projects as a co-founder and director at Scene, and latterly as Renewables Fellow at the James Hutton Institute.

Jelte is tasked with overseeing Inclusive Energy’s business development activities, from partnership creation, carbon financing, to R&D strategy, which he does in various places around the globe, especially East Africa. Jelte is also chair of the Inclusive Energy board.

Julien Mialaret

Julien is an Operating Partner at Eurazeo, a global investor in technology with offices in Paris, London, Berlin, NY, Shanghai, Seoul and Singapore. Eurazeo is currently the largest venture capital firm in continental Europe and active in Asia with approximately €3.6 bn in venture and growth capital and  €22bn overall with additional activities in private debt and private equity 

Julien deploys Smart City Fund II in China and Asean region which is focused on the digital convergence of smart city sectors: new energy, mobility, industry 4.0, property, deeptech. Smart City II launched in January 2021 with a 1^st closing at €80m and is already supported by 10 corporate and institutional investors in Europe  and Asia. The fund is expected to reach  €200m by the end of 2021.

Kevin Bone

Kevin is a Partner at Lightrock. He believes the alignment of world-class, purpose-driven entrepreneurs and supportive capital is essential to creating the world we want to live in. He joined Lightrock after more than twenty years in technology, principally as an investor across growth and venture stages globally, but previously in CEO roles leading restructurings and turnarounds of three businesses, as an investment banker and as a consultant. Lawrence Wu

Lawrence is an entrepreneur at heart, with a passion for environmental sustainability and a decade of experience building successful ventures in the renewable energy sector. Lawrence began his career as an investment banker at global financial institutions such as DBS, Macquarie, BNP Paribas and Goldman Sachs, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, reverse takeovers, schemes of arrangement and de-listings of public companies. It was through this experience that he earned an appreciation for the hard work and resilience required to identify an opportunity in the marketplace, see it through, and have it all come together in the end to deliver value.

Lawrence graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a bachelor of Accountancy degree (First Class Honours). He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Institute) and Chartered Accountant, Singapore (ISCA).

Leon Farrant

Mark Chadderton is the CEO of Aspiring Materials Limited, a role which started off in a voluntary capacity and has grown into his full time passion.

Mark has an Honours Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Canterbury, became a Chartered Engineer with IChemE in 2000, and completed his MBA with Herriot Watt University, whilst living in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2006.

Mark recently closed out his time on the $US36B Wheatstone LNG project. Here he’d been involved in design, construction and operational readiness activities, before going on the lead the safe operational start-up and commissioning of the downstream facility. After working in multiple Energy and Industrial Sectors around the world (including Fonterra, BP, Santos and Chevron), Mark sees the Aspiring Materials process development as a positive application of his 30 years of engineering, industrial and operational knowledge. What’s more it’s illustrating to my daughters (Alexandra and Georgia) that engineers can solve difficult problems, even if I can’t help them with their English homework!

Michael Oliver

Michael is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a Business Management degree. After beginning his career in accounting at Ernst & Young, he worked for several major investment banks internationally.

Over the past decade, he has worked as both a CFO and CEO for fast-growing entrepreneurial companies, including an NZX listed utility enterprise software company, before heading up retirement village developer Vision Senior Living, which he then helped merge into Metlifecare.  He is experienced in private equity and institutional capital raising and applying financial and management discipline to growth companies to maximize shareholder returns and drive sustainable performance.

Mihir Pershad

Mihir Pershad is Founder & CEO of Umami Meats, where he is building a team pioneering cultivated, ‘not caught’ seafood by crafting delicious, nutritious, and affordable cultivated fish that is better for our health, our oceans, and our future. Mihir was previously Venture Partner at Early Charm Ventures and author of Cultivated Abundance. In his free time, Mihir enjoys climbing mountains, scuba diving, and exploring the remote and wild corners of the world.

Mike Lim

Mike is the MD of Trirec a Singapore based Cleantech focus fund. Mike has held various senior management role in investment banking and corporate specializing in fund raising, M&A and corporate strategy. He also co-founded several businesses in the IOT and future foods space. He is currently also a mentor of Innovate 360 a Singapore based Agrifood Tech incubator. Mike graduated from the National University of Singapore with a 2^nd class upper honor degree in Business Administration.

Mirte Gosker

Mirte Gosker leads GFI Asia Pacific as Acting MD, accelerating the markets for fermentation, plant-based and cultivated meat, egg and dairy through research and innovation. She lives in Singapore, the first country in the world to approve the sales of a cultivated meat product. Prior to GFI, she worked as a management consultant to startups, and as a researcher in humanitarian logistics. She brings experience in startups, international development and philanthropy. Mirte holds a MA in International Development from Wageningen University. Areas of expertise: entrepreneurship, business strategy, and development, project management, people management, philanthropy.

Naoki Okawa

Okawa is currently in charge of emerging business development as a venture capitalist in the CVC division of ENEOS. He started his carrier as a geologist in the Oil & Gas E&P industry. He spent 4 years to work at an oil field in Vietnam and developed hands-on experience through exploration projects in South East Asia (Vietnam, Malaysia), Middle East (Qatar) and Japan. He learned the importance of taking on challenges from my experience in upstream oil business. Currently, after being involved to challenge a new business development project, he transferred to the current position and is mainly in charge of investing in and collaborating with startups engaged in order to create new business for the Nature based Solutions (blue carbon and forestry). In his free time, he enjoys practicing Kendo with his son.

Nattawat (Nik) Nirdnoy

Nattawat joined GC in 2020. He drives corporate venture capital investments from thesis development and origination, through deal evaluation and execution. Prior to GC, he served large corporate clients in consulting projects across Southeast Asia in areas of Innovation management, Enterprise risk management and Digital Transformation with global consulting firms.

Nattawat holds a M.S. in International Business from University of Edinburgh and a B.Eng. (International Program) from SIIT, Thammasat University.

Neha Poddar

Neha is a Principal at Good Startup where she is responsible for deal origination, investment analysis and portfolio management. She works closely with Good Startup’s portfolio companies to help them in their mission of furthering the alternative protein industry. She has more than a decade of experience in various asset classes across public and private markets. Neha has been pursuing her passion in impact investing over the last four years. Prasoon Kumar

Prasoon Kumar, Co-Founder and CEO of BillionBricks is a President’s Design Awardee, TEDx speaker and social justice campaigner working towards solving the climate and housing crisis. Prasoon began his career as an architect working in design firms across India, USA, Hong Kong and Singapore. In 2013, he left his corporate job to start BillionBricks with his previous employer, Anurag Srivastava, who is the founding partner of Jungle Ventures and Space Matrix Group.

Prasoon and Anurag were driven by a joint mission to empower everyone to own a dignified home. To achieve this, BillionBricks is pioneering the development of the world’s first income-generating, carbon-negative to net-zero solar homes and communities. BillionBricks originally began as a non-profit and has provided shelters, schools and homes to 5,365 people across 9 countries, and rendered relief support to another 10,000. Its first innovation called weatherHYDE, is an award-winning, life-saving emergency shelter that was described by Ashton Kutcher as “innovation at its finest.”

Prasoon has received global recognition for his work. Winner of Singularity University’s Global Grand Challenge and named Urban Land Institute’s 40 under 40, he graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning and an Outstanding Graduate Award in 2005. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India.

Pui Yan Leung

Pui Yan serves as Partner, Investment in Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India and focuses on opportunities in Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India, Pui Yan was an Investment Director at Singtel Innov8, the CVC arm of Singtel.  Prior to that, she assumed a range of operating roles, including Business Development, Product Marketing and Strategy.

Pui Yan is a Kauffman Fellow and graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree from the National University of Singapore.

Purnima Gandhi

Purnima Gandhi is an investment professional with global experience across investment banking, private equity, public equity and angel investing. She has experience of working across cultures and countries having worked in India, UK and Singapore.

She has been with the investments team at Temasek International, Singapore for more than 8 years overseeing investments in the energy and environmental sector globally. Prior to this she was in Citigroup in Investment Banking in London.

Rayeon Park is a strategic planning lead at GridWiz. She leads a strategy team with a strict focus on delivering integrated platforms to optimize fleets of distributed energy resources as virtual power plants. The areas for the team include demand response, energy storage, rooftop solar, and EV charging solutions. Prior to joining GridWiz, she was a senior manager at KPMG CC&S (Climate Change & Sustainability). She received a B.A in architecture from UC Berkeley.

Richard Youngman

Since January 2016, Richard Youngman has been CEO of San-Francisco based Cleantech Group (CTG). This followed 7 years of driving the growth of CTG’s activities outside North America, especially in Europe and Israel, and Asia, based in CTG’s office in London.

Richard has more than ten years’ experience researching cleantech innovation, venture capital markets, and start-ups across Europe and globally. He is a regular keynote speaker at major cleantech events and is the driving force behind the annual Global Cleantech 100, a list of the world’s most promising private cleantech companies.

Ryoji Miyawaki

Ryoji Miyawaki is a global affiliate visiting scholar at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (Shorenstein APARC) for 2018-19. Miyawaki has over 20 years of experience in the energy industry as a business consultant with a background in digital technology, business strategy, marketing strategy and change management.  He was head of the utility industry at Accenture Japan from 2011 to 2018 as a management director.  Currently, he is the CEO at AAKEL Technologies Inc., a company for realizing decarbonization utilizing digital innovation in Japan.  His research interests cover energy market trading, P2P trading with blockchain, distributed energy resource optimization and artificial intelligence.

Sharon joined the 5B team in February 2022, bringing with her decades of experience as a finance professional and board member for both listed and private companies across multiple industries and countries.

As a CFO, she has driven financial improvements and strategic direction in sectors as diverse as retail, media and financial services. Most recently she was the COO at agricultural technology company Green Camel where she delivered significant sales and profitability growth.

A keen supporter of organic and sustainable food production, her interest in green industries was formed in her childhood in country NSW, and refined throughout 20 years of experience in the areas of strategic planning, risk management and financial control.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Newcastle, an MBA from Deakin University, is a Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant and a member of The Australian Institute of Company Directors. Sophia is a managing partner at bp ventures, leading the sourcing of venturing deals in the Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern markets. She explores new opportunities that support bp’s scaling of advanced mobility, clean energy, and other tech-led business models that accelerate the transition to net zero.

Sophia joined bp ventures from bp’s advanced mobility team, having designed and delivered the company’s e-mobility strategy, helping the business to become a leading provider of integrated mobility solutions for a future world.

Before joining bp, she worked as an innovator and business builder in the global consumer goods and services industry, ran her own award-winning business and qualified as a lawyer. In her spare time, Sophia volunteers as a Magistrate and enjoys exploring the British countryside in her electric car.

Todd Allmendinger

I specialise in strategic sustainable development and water management for new and existing infrastructure. I founded WASE in 2017 to tackle the global sanitation crisis where we are developing containerised wastewater treatment systems to create biogas, clean water and fertiliser for agriculture. The foundation of WASE is linked to my PhD research at Brunel University into Microbial Electrolysis Cells and their application for wastewater treatment in developed and developing communities.

I have extensive experience in the environmental and social effects on different stakeholders, using a variety of tools to design and implement sustainable strategies into all aspects of an organisation. Previously studied Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Design MSc at Brunel University and Product Design BSc at Bournemouth University.

Yvonne Power

Yvonne Power is passionate about building a sustainable energy future especially in remote communities and developing nations.

Yvonne is co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of Village Energy, a WA born start-up that has developed energy technology that operates at the last mile of the energy grid to deliver cleaner, cheaper and more reliable power.

Yvonne led the development of a highly successful pilot project in Andhra Pradesh, India, with which WA has a sister-state relationship.

Since the pilot, Village Energy has signed agreements across India, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam and has a potential pipeline of millions of customer connections.

Village Energy is backed by a Bill Gates chaired venture capital fund, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and has been recognized as an APAC25 company and is the 2020 winner of the Australian Technologies Competition in energy.

Yvonne is a mother of three, 2020 40under40 award winner, and formally worked at Horizon Power as Manager Strategy, helping to drive the shift to renewable and distributed energy microgrids.
