I didn't catch anyone else in the room chuckling. But it struck me today as funny that Michael Peevey, President of the California Public Utilities Commission, the guy at the reigns of power (literally) for the sixth largest economy in the world, thinks his very own Silicon Valley is pronounced "silicone valley".
Am I the only one who finds glorious serendipity in the name of Michael Peevey, who's a big proponent of solar power?!
Once or twice could be forgiven. We all make mistakes.
Evergreen Solar (Nasdaq:ESLR), a manufacturer of solar power products, today announced that it has entered into a four-year supply contract with Mainstream Energy, LLC, which has systems integration and distribution subsidaries involved in the sales, distribution and installation of residential and commercial solar electric systems nationwide.
Under the terms of the agreement, Evergreen Solar will ship approximately $100 million of photovoltaic modules to Mainstream Energy over the next four years.
Evergreen says this deal is further affirmation of the proprietary, low-cost String Ribbon(TM) wafer technology at the heart of its cells.
Full Story »A Vermont-based solar integrator called groSolar has just received $2.25 million from three venture funds that specialize in the cleantech and renewable energy sectors: SJF Ventures, Calvert Social Investment Fund, and Allco Financial Group. More details here.
We'd chosen not to cover the world of cleantech integrators, and concentrate primarily on latest developments from technology vendors themselves.
